About Us
Experience Matters
The Digital Pencil, Inc. draws on over 25 years of professional experience designing, creating, and collaborating with some of the New York Tri-state’s most notable Interior Design and Architectural firms. Large or small, we view each assignment as an opportunity to offer the fullest range of visual tools available to make every project both aesthetically unique and technically sound.
From 2-D design services such as Interior Architecture, Spacial Planning, and Architectural or Mechanical CAD design and drafting, to 3-D Pre-visualization, Furniture Design, Custom Millwork Product and Installation, and Project Management, our success lies within our ability to see the entire perspective of the design process, and personally guide our clients through each phase, facilitating perfect, beautiful results.
Is the designer easy to talk to? Does he or she listen to you as well as offer advice and the best path forward? It is the job of the designer to synthesize the wants and wishes of their client into a cohesive whole with exciting and positive results. Client / designer relationships must have a positive interaction and the freedom to exchange ideas and inspiration. It is a relationship.
How many times have you (or someone you know), liked a product but not the representative, or liked the representative but wasn’t wild about the product? As the client, you are in control of any purchase. And if a designer’s time IS the product and is upfront with his or her cost (hourly or the project as a whole), you are in control of that as well.
That’s easy - the designer doesn’t live in your home, you do! It’s hard for a designer not to influence the aesthetic of a project (after all, that’s why you hire them). But unless the client wants to do something dangerous (and I’ve had that happen) ultimately this is your project. It is the designer’s job to show you how, in the most beautiful and cost-effective way (as well as present things you may not have thought possible!).
In my experience this is most important discussion we can have because renovations often become a cause of concern over cost and “overruns”. It is the job of a designer to have not only an aesthetic eye but an eye towards cost and efficiency, creating a design within his or her client’s means.
Because every design I’ve done has been as different as my many clients. And they should be. I’ve done hundreds of renovations, but statistics show that you will probably do only 1 – 2 in your lifetime. It is a big step and a major expense aside from purchasing a home. So, tap into me - pick my brain. I’ll show you how to your renovation beautiful as well as possible.
